Remembering ...

Remembering - On June 30th 1995 the world mourned the loss of singer/actress Phyllis Hyman.  Hyman battled depression, which became overwhelming ultimately leading to her suicide.  The talented beauty had attempted suicide several times before. Near the end of her life, she seemed upbeat and on the mend, unfortunately it didn't last.  Hanging out at Kimball's East in Emeryville twice a year, were the good ole days, where you could find Hyman, singing her brains out.  Needless to say, her shows were always sold out.  Hopefully she's found the peace that she so richly deserved.

Boyz In The Hood - Reunion

Angela Bassett, Morris Chestnut
and Tyra Ferrell the alumni cast from director John Singleton's breakout debut movie Boyz In The Hood.  25 years later the cast is looking lovely as ever.  'Hood' is definitely 'Urban Legend' and the Blueprint on how stories of the inner city should be told.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous ..

Happy Birthday - I have been crazy in love with Tika Sumpter for about seven years now.  This actress can do no wrong in my book PLUS she is gorgeous as f*ck.  Sumpter began her career as host of the N network reality series, Best Friend's Date and landed the role of Layla Williamson in the ABC daytime soap opera, One Life to Live where she starred regularly through 2010. In the same year, Sumpter made her movie debut in her leading female role in the musical drama Stomp the Yard: Homecoming. She later had recurring roles as Raina Thorpe in The CW teen drama Gossip Girl, and as Jenna Rice in the BET sitcom The Game (one of my all time favorite shows).

Sumpter was later featured in supporting roles for What's Your Number? and Think Like a Man, before starring in Sparkle and A Madea Christmas.   In 2013, Sumpter began her role as Candace Young, the leading character on the Oprah Winfrey Network primetime soap opera, The Haves and the Have Nots. Sumpter later played Angela Payton in comedy film Ride Along (2014), and its sequel, Ride Along 2 (2016), Yvonne Fair in the biopic, Get On Up (2014), and Michelle Robinson Obama in romantic comedy-drama, Southside with You.

This beauty star continues to rise and shine.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORGEOUS!!

Maxwell - Black Summers Night

Rest In Peace Champ ...

One of the things that I loved the most about Muhammad Ali, was his strength out of the ring.  He was a perfect ambassador for the world.  As a Black man, I admired his ability to speak up for his beliefs, no matter, if you agreed or not. Most public figures, try to swim with the current, to be politically correct.  Ali went to jail, because he wouldn't fight in World War II.  He said that those countries didn't do anything to him, it was America who treated him and his people poorly.  Rest In Peace Mr. Ali

Thieves In The Temple ...

Devils Span - Whitney Houston passed away February 11, 2012.  She entrusted her life to leeches and hanger ons.  Mainly one very suspect person, is her manager/sister in law Pat Garland.  Garland sold a picture of Houston in her coffin to the National Enquirer for 500.000, then she approved a Hologram  tour and now the latest is selling off Whitney Houston items to the highest bidder, for profit.  She robbed Whitney in life and she's robbing her in death.    Sounds like the work of drug addiction and fraudulent behavior to me.  Pat and Gary Garland controls the Estate.  What does Cissy and Houston's other brother Michael,  have to say about Garlands shenanigans?

Whitney Houston's estate is selling off the late singer's elaborately beaded wedding gown, custom-made designer costumes (mink-trimmed jeans, anyone?), and a trove of other memorabilia, from her first U.S. passport to her expired credit cards to an personally inscribed copy of Nelson Mandela's memoir.

The Whitney Houston Collection, which includes 120 items, will go on the auction block June 24 and 25 at Heritage Auctions in Beverly Hills and online.

The Newark-born singer accidentally drowned in a Beverly Hills hotel room bathtub in 2012, the night before the Grammy Awards. An autopsy revealed that cocaine use and heart disease contributed to her death. Nearly three years later, her only daughter and beneficiary, Bobbi Kristina Brown, also died under similar circumstances.

Though there are other lots with higher opening bids, the most personal item is Houston's ivory satin wedding gown from her 1992 nuptials to Bobby Brown at her Mendham estate. Marc Bouwer designed the four-piece high-necked gown with input from Houston and her stylist at the time, and it includes the matching beaded and sequined satin cloche hat and floor-length sheer white silk veil. The opening bid is $3,500.

Among the stagewear are several over-the-top pieces designed by Dolce & Gabbana for Houston's 1999 "My Love Is Your Love" tour, and a black Marc Bouwer jumpsuit encrusted with beads that she wore during her 1991 "I'm Your Baby Tonight" tour, including her show at the Meadowlands.
