Dancing Beast ...

A dancing beast - Anthony Burrell star continues to grow. First came the notoriety of being Rihanna's boyfriend, then as Beyonce' Knowles lead dancer, now he's one if the most sought after choreographers in the country. A native of Philadelphia, Anthony Burrell began his dance career at age 14 as a student at the Point Breeze Performing Arts Center, and while attending he started teaching other students. Burrell's extraordinary talent earned him an emerging choreographer award which later resulted in him being selected as resident choreographer for the school.
Later he attended Franklin Learning Center for high school, where he studied with Horton Master, Faye Snow. While in high school, he performed professionally with Eleone, KTM Extreme, Danco 2 (Philadanco second company) Koresh, and Prism. Anthony also studied at The Pennsylvania Ballet and the National School of Ballet in Lima, Peru.

During his freshman year of college, Anthony was hand selected by Judith Jamison to joined Ailey II, the second company of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT). Also, at this time, Anthony taught Master Classes at universities and other dance institutions across the country. 

After a year with Ailey II, Anthony joined Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and toured nationally and internationally with the company for five years. During his time with the Alvin Ailey Company, he set choreography on Ailey members and was described by reviewer Jennifer Dunning as a “choreographer to watch.” And I can personally say that he's an all around nice guy.
