Resurgence ...
Flashback Who's That?
Van Hunt was born March 8, 1970. He is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He released his debut album, Van Hunt, in 2004, and a follow-up, On the Jungle Floor, in 2006, both on Capitol Records. He won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for appearing on the tribute version of the Sly & the Family Stone song, "Family Affair", in 2007. He transitioned to Blue Note Records where his 2008 album, Popular, was shelved and never released. He self-released the compilation album Use In Case of Emergency in 2009. The struggle continues, for the Independent artist, to find their audience, with the refusal of AirPlay at radio, for those artists whose pockets are not deep enough lace palms.
Van Hunt released his 5th studio album 'The Fun Rises, The Fun Sets' in May. A 14-song project, the Los Angeles native is managed by Randy Jackson. The latest material from him, hints at an immense trajectory and un-matched musicality.
Songs like 'Headroom' and 'Teach Me A New Language' lead the way into the R&B, soul singer's 'The Fun Rises, The Fun Sets' album. These songs demonstrate Van Hunt's dynamic vocal range, and remarkable song-writing talent. Van Hunt uplifts the songs with positive lyrics that he delivers with a soothing and smooth vibe. Furthermore, Van Hunt inspires much of 'The Fun Rises, The Fun Sets' material with elements from his musical roots, including various improvisation moments. The funky bass and edgy rock music influences on songs like 'Old Hat' are what the independent crooner calls, "Black-American music,". Van Hunt himself displays charming sense of passion, individuality, and experimental bravado that all together go with the flow of his life's experiences, with little bitterness, all of which attests to a never broken spirit to his artistry, it's pure love.

After laying the ground work with many years of performing at practically anywhere, he’s enjoying enjoying the fruits of his labor.
While he once slept in a bunk bed squeezed in the hallway of a one-bedroom apartment he shared with his single mom and older brother, the 36-year-old international superstar now lives in a massively gorgeous mansion sitting inside a gated community in the Los Angeles suburb of Tarzana. That’s where the Ride Along actor sat down with Rolling Stone magazine to give us a closer look inside his life as one of the funniest men in Hollywood.
