Always Be My Baby ...

Dearest Whitney,
Today is the last day of 2012.  I never could have believed that I would get the call on February 11th, telling me your ulitmate fate, it still pulls at my soul.  The year end reviews all have you listed as the #1 passing of 2012, in a morbid kind of way, you're doing in the afterlife what you did in life, capture the #1 spot.  I will never be the same, I continue to watch footage of some of your shows, and I smile, and I get all the emotions of loss and longing.  You were the artist that touched my soul, the one who I connected with emotionally, and the one that I could relate to, your voice so purifying and how sure you were.  Easily looking back at 2012, I know what was the saddest day, and It was one of the days that my life was forever changed, literally the music died, it was a stun to the industry and we are still recovering from your loss.  Whitney Elizabeth Houston, you came and changed the rules of the pop music game, a little black girl breaking color barriers with no peers, it had to be a lonely place.  As always I hope that you're at peace, the one that gets your the greatest understanding, as you so richly deserve.  Until next week, rest easy my beautiful princess.  Forever missing you. RIP

Affirmation ...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for allowing me to see another day of life and to witness your divine beauty.  Please honor me with favor, mercy and grace, I ask that you continue to guide and direct my path and to protect me from hurt, harm, fear and danger.  To God be the Glory, for if God be for you who can be against me, I understand that when evil men rise against me, they will stumble and fall.  Please let me be a vessel of your word, and allow me to be an Angel to those that I encounter, who are in need of my help.  The world continues to need healing and understanding and evolution of your walk and greatness.  For all the blessing that you have shown in my life, I do give thanks, I take nothing for granted and I will forever continue to be grateful.  Love and light to all those who walk with the understanding of you. Amen~

Comeuppance

Django - saw it with a group of Caucasians and 'we' loved it.  Spike Lee get off of Quentin Tarantino's nutts, hatorade is in your wheel house.  The "N" shouldn't be used by any race, but that's not the reality ... thankfully that's not the selling point of this movie.  Before you judge it, see it for yourself.

Proclamation/TGIF

Happy Friday everyone ... Let's Talk about It!

Next week starts a new year, and resolutions can invigorate with hopes of a new consciousness of keeping a keen eye to avoid shortcomings and procrastination. Self deserves a honest fresh approach, only say what you really can commit to, if we're roaming the earth together, its safe to assume that you can attest to my words being true of 'time' passing, rapid moves, rapid circumstance and a rapid result. Directional is to reconsider, turning a corner instead of a straight path, might just make all the difference in your world.

RESOLVE - I believe fundamentally that when someone wants to be a part of your life they will make an intentional effort. Gone are the days when I over extend myself exerting unnecessary energy to people who do not wish me well or want anything to do with me. I am a gift to whomever I meet because I realize that the people attached to me are gifts, that being said you are a gift to me also.  As I say goodbye to 2012, I thank you for embarking on this journey with me, and for allowing me into your world to share my thoughts, may God bless us all, especially the babies. Happy New Year!

Welllllllll Now - Camera Action

Up and coming singer Brandon Hines could speak about this picture better than most, and would probably have some stories to swap with dude in this picture, but why some of saying photo shop, I addressed this situation about three years ago .... oh well.  Trey Songz did sing about "Bottoms Up" It is what it is OR isn't right?
Actor to comedian Katt Williams, actor Jamie Foxx is gay and up and coming singer Marcus Anthony is his partner.

Command Performance

Kim Burrell is a wonderful gospel singer, clearly anointed in her approach and delivery.  It's a beautiful gift to witness live singing, when the singer can really interpret and deliver a heartfelt story.  She's singing her heart out on her version of "Thank You Jesus".  Enjoy~

Young Love - Crazy Love!!!

Breezy, keep your eyes on Ri-Ri it's like we've witnessed this movie before, tragically we know how it ends.  Hey we were all in our twenties before .... let's keep watching.  God bless the both of these kids.  I'm always #Teambreezy

Never Forget Your Blue Eyed Soul ...

Teena Marie was one of my childhood favorite singers, she was my very first journalism interview, which I remember like it was yesterday.  I dug her music, and her soul.  For so long she was my escape for everything good, bad or indifferent.  Later in life, I got to spend time in her company, and to be invited into her home, it was a very special time.  Two years ago today, she was taking an afternoon nap at 1pm only to never wake ... a very sad time indeed, but I'm left with nothing but good memories, and I'll be grateful to her for helping to shape my childhood, and for my friends Toni Seawright and T'gia Jones for keeping me in touch with her through the years.  I'm eternally grateful.  Lady Tee, I know that you are singing with the angels, and that band, that choir and those vocalists are having the jam session of a lifetime, and of course I know that all of you are smiling down, because I and the rest of your legion of fans, we remember~ RIP

Gee Roberson will leave as Chairman of Geffen Records to found his own full-service record company, Blueprint, to be distributed by Interscope Geffen A&M, it was announced by label Chairman/CEO Jimmy Iovine and President/COO John Janick. "I'm very happy about the knowledge and experience I gained at Geffen that will be very useful going forward in the future," said Roberson. My Brothers Keeper/TGIF

Happy Friday everyone ... Let's Talk about It!!

We recently witnessed a carnage as a nation, it's time we ban together and fellowship in the conviction, that another senseless death cannot happen on our watch. We are here to be more and do more. It begins with the want and need to be better prepared than before, stronger to conquer obstacles that are unforeseen. To witness an anomaly cant prepare us in our survival skills, we need a plan of action, if its gun control the topic needs to be on the table up for discussion. Those lives lost last week speak of perilous times, in the book of Timothy talks about horrific acts and living in the last days, lets cherish the day, precious moments are fleeting away, like we are witnessing the writings on the wall.

God knows and he says all, we're all his sheep, no color lines, Hatred, chemical imbalance should not go unattended, we have to be each others eyes and ears, we have to trust the signs when we see them and not second guess anything, on a missed opportunity to be present, to be larger than life to surrender all. Most of us believe in life in the hereafter, so the comfort in this tragedy is knowing that those babies are now with God, their work is done, they are in the place where pain is nonexistent, for them nothing but glory days, To the parents, relatives, friends of the victims of Newtown, Conn I, we stand with you in solidarity, and say to you that yes we 'ARE' our Brothers Keeper. RIP

Tim McGraw and Scott McCreery singing "Live Like You Were Dying" on American Idol was a great moment in Americana history.  In a time when our nation is in mourning, I think this song is so appropriate. This song drives home about appreciating the moment of 'now' because you never really know.  Enjoy~

TIME magazine - Person of The Year

Congratulations President Obama on being named Time Magazine's person of the year. The list was very short this year from a Pakistani teenager, the new leader of Egypt and a former president, Barack Obama has for the second time been named Time magazine's person of the year.

In an essay on the weekly decision, Michael Scherer, the magazine's White House correspondent, points to "the Obama effect," and how it can be quantified.
"It could be measured — in wars stopped and started; industries saved, restructured or re-regulated; tax cuts extended; debt levels inflated; terrorists killed; the health-insurance system re-imagined; and gay service members who could walk in uniform with their partners," Scherer wrote.
The selection of Obama by the magazine was announced today on NBC's "Today" show.
This is the second time the magazine has bestowed the honor on the president. Four years ago, as president-elect after his victory over John McCain in 2008, he was also given the honor.

Other contenders on the magazine's short list this year included Malala Yousafzai, the teen Pakistani advocate for education for girls who was shot by the Taliban, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, and Bill and Hillary Clinton. The magazine named 17-year-old Yousafzai 2012's runner-up.

"Since October her message has been heard around the world, from cramped classrooms where girls scratch out lessons in the dirt to the halls of the U.N. and national governments and NGOs, where legions of activists argue ever more vehemently that the key to raising living standards throughout the developing world is the empowerment of women and girls," Aryn Baker, Time's Middle East bureau chief, said in a profile.

A Mess - How YOU Doin

Sam Donaldson -- the veteran ABC newsman and political correspondent -- was arrested for DUI in Delaware earlier this month.  According to law enforcement, 78-year-old Donaldson was pulled over just before 8pm on December 1 after he had driven onto the shoulder of the road. During the stop, the officer detected the presence of alcohol and decided to perform a field sobriety test on Sam ... which he bombed.  Donaldson was eventually arrested for DUI and was taken to a nearby station where he was booked and released. How interesting, just goes to prove that more than African Americans get DUI's, just when it's another nationality, it's takes a few weeks to hit the media stations and outlets.

Chad Jones and ex wife Evelyn Lozada were in court this week to lift the restraining order against the former NFL player.  If you'll recall they were married for less than 41 days before the head butting incident happened.  Lozada said that she wants to get on with her life and that she holds no resentment and does view her ex-husband to be a threat to her.  Guess she ready to get her cakes smashed again. Oy Vey

Ke$ha  -- is either lying now or was lying then because weeks before she said she was "forced" to sing the lyrics to "Die Young," she BRAGGED about penning the song during a radio interview. The singer appeared on 95.5 WPLJ in New York back in November -- weeks before the Newtown massacre -- and took full credit for writing the song, saying. "I definitely make sure that every word rings true to me because I would never want to misrepresent myself to millions of people around the world ... I wrote and rewrote and rewrote that song ten times."
Shocking, considering Ke$ha completely contradicted herself on Twitter yesterday after several radio stations around the country stopped playing the song in light of the Newtown tragedy. Ke$ha had written, "I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO." Sounds like Ke$ha is trying to do some quick save my career damage control.  When it was a hit, she had bragging rights, once the scrutiny started all of a sudden, she was FORCED!

Singer Keyshia Cole  --   went on a twitter rant against her home town radio station KMEL in San Francisco, Ca.  Cole was upset that she wasn't the headliner at their stations annual Holiday House of Soul Concert.
"She wrote, "EVERY F**KING YEAR I do something major for my city! @KMEL has the nerve to tell me at the last minute they want me to open for 'the weeknd'." She added, "No disrespect to 'the weeknd'. Why the hell would @106KMEL ask me to open for him in My home town! Where I give back! Where IM FROM! #NO"
When contacted the radio Station, it was reported that she was never going to be the headliner, they were contacted a week prior that Cole was cancelling her appearance and quickly removed her name from any advertising promotional campaigns and replaced her with r&b singer Jeremih.  Sounds like Cole is having issues with her records not selling as well as they once did, maybe a little bruised ego, which strikes me as odd, because she only has four CD's under her belt and only one of them really sold well, so I say be glad that booking agencies are still calling you for shows, it could be so much worse. ijs

Christina Millian sat down recently with Wendy Williams and said her bff Karrueche Tran, NOT Rihanna, is Chris Brown's girlfriend. Millian appears to still be bitter about a bad decsion that SHE made.  When she was signed to Def Jam L.A. Reid(then label president) approached Millian who was then an up and coming artist, with the song SOS, Millian passed on the record, and the rest is HISTORY! So of course she's not team Rihanna.

Newtown Victims -- We Remember You

This story breaks your heart time and time again. Every day I've watched coverage on the funerals of the little children, I cry and get angry daily, so hard for their loved ones.  Innocent children and adult victims who were kill in this senseless killing.  It's time for gun laws to become tougher, background criminal checks should be a prerequisite to apply for guns if then, should they even be allowed.  I am all for gun control in our country. It's boggles my brain, a simple thing like dropping your child off to school every morning to get an education, only to never return home .... I can't.  Teachers arent paid enough in this country to begin with,  the level of respect and bravery that the teachers and principle showed has to be commended, and it truly shines a bright light on just how special teachers are in this country.  This madness has to stop.  Journalist continue to try to rationalize why this happened, who gives a damn, IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN!

Newtown we will never forget you, and I hope that your families can begin to heal, and my hopes that the love that the world is showing you is helping to heal your forever broken hearts.

T.I.'s "Trouble Man" cd - In Stores NOW!!

T.I. is the man and he is back on the music scene with his 'Trouble Man' - Heavy Is The Head cd featuring Andre' 3000, A$AP Rock, Pink, R.Kelly, Lil Wayne, Ceelo, Akon and Meek Mill.  He's been away for a minute, but he more than makes up for lost time. Leggo~

Ciara - Baddest Female Dancer in the Game

Ciara is the new modern day Janet Jackson and is the baddest female dancer in the game right now, yes I said it, she puts it down, over Beyonce,  Britney, Gaga, Rihanna, Mya ....Aaliyah would be proud and Janet, Paula, J.Lo and Madonna should be proud.  Her new song "Got Me Good" makes you want to shake your ass.  She was the only redeeming moment at Divas Live!!  Hopefully L.A. Reid will get off his ass and leave X-Factor and get back to focusing on music over at Epic Records where he is the president and Ciara is on his roster.  She deserves ATTENTION, she's a marketing department's DREAM!! #teamCiara

Classic Movies -- Classic Movie Lines ...

The Way We Were starring Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand, is a movie that deals with love, politics and heartbreak.  The couple met in college and couldn't be more different, he was popular, good looking, an author, a ladies man with well connected Hollywood contacts, she was average looking, smart, politically driven rebel always fighting some cause and socially challenged.  They met and in spite of all their differences, they fell in love became parents, loved hard and fought hard.  This is one of my all time favorite movies.  Here's a few of my favorite lines ...

Katie:  You'll never find someone who loves you and believes in you as much as I do,
Huble: I know,
Katie:  then why,
Huble: you make it so hard.
Katie:  I can change ..

Always Be My Baby ...

Dearest Whitney,
Hello beautiful, it's been another week without you.  I was at Divas LIVE last night, which featured tributes to you and Donna Summer, it was produced by your musical director Rickey Minor.  Unfortunately again, it was a tribute to you gone wrong, though well intended Jordan Sparks, Ledisi and Melonie Fiona none of them were able to capture the essence of who you really were, and the power of your voice and stage presence.  The redeeming moment of your tribute was the stage design which was LARGER than life, which spoke to your personality, beauty and your gifted voice.  I look to the day when the music industry will give you a 2-hour righteous tribute that you rightfully deserve, along the lines of what The Grammys/CBS did last month.  God gave you such a unique gift and though you are gone, your light continues to shine bright.  My heart can only imagine how Krissi  and your mother Cissy is coping without your being here, it pains me to fathom the thought.  For me a hole will forever be in my heart.  I continue to thank you for the beautiful presence that you brought to my life.  Until next week, rest easy my beautiful princess. RIP

Affirmation ...

Heavenly Father, thanks for the grace of living to witness another day of your goodness and mercy.  I'm know that I could not do anything without you and your guidance. Please continue to honor with favor, mercy and grace, guide and direct my path, and protect me from hurt, harm, fear and danger.  I pray for the world as I view that we are in a state of emergency, please put your arms around the families in Connecticut  give them strength, understanding and forgiveness, as we  also continue to observe the losses and aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.  For all of my blessings that I receive from you, I do not take anything for granted, I send love and light to those in the world who believe in you and I ask that you show mercy to the naysayers and show them the way.  I am a vessel of your word to spread to those who I encounter, and to be an Angel to those who need my services.  To God be the glory, if God be for you, who can be against you.  I do give thanks for you. Amen~

The argument Legal or Illegal? Good or Bad?

Of this earth, is it good for our economy?  Is it good for your health?  Or is just for recreational purposes?  Not so long ago alcohol was illegal in this country.  So I ask, just like senseless killings, when will learn?  Many killings have been equated to drugs mainly marijuana being illegal.  Again I say America get well soon, and let the healing begin.

Senseless killings WHEN WILL IT END???

My heart is broken once again, when I look at the state of our world.  Senseless killings to the very young and innocent.  I have little people very dear to me, who are in daycare, kindergarten, elementary school everyday.  We drop our kids off every morning and assume that we will pick them up at the end of day.  My heart cries out to God to please stop this madness of selfish ass dumb individuals with too much time on their hands.  Im sickened and deeply saddened by the senseless violence that occurred today in Newton, CT. This problem continues to plague our country. I don't care what anyone says, now is the time for gun control. We are living in a war zone. Sending prayers up for those poor little souls and to the adults that perished as well. Love & light...

This world is really becoming the worse. I am so tired of hearing about innocent kids & adults losing their lives due to some unstable individual. So many innocent victims lives have come to an end in such a tragic way. Those who survived are forever scarred! I pray for all those who unfortunately had to be a part of such an horrible ordeal. Once again we are reminded just how precious time really is & we must never take love ones for granted regardless how young or old they are.

God please be with the families during this horrific tragic lose, give them encouragement  and strength to endure the worse day of their lives.  Let us as a nation come together with tolerance and love, together is the only way.Bless and protect our babies Dear Father.  I pray for healing of our world.  Amen~

I Love Lucy - Classic Moments in Television

Over 50 years later ... and Lucille Ball's comedy still holds up.  Yes I can say that I Love Lucy as does the rest of the world.

Illumine/TGIF

Happy Friday everyone ,,, Let's Talk about It!!

Personal space is generally taken for granted, until you have someone crowd you. It's not an unreasonable request to demand a certain distance amount of space between yourself and others, Inner thoughts are yours to process and dwell to conceptualize your next position.  Space is a commodity that we think is free, but free in this world has it's price. Awareness of your time management is a must, ask that your path be lighter with less negativity into a deeper meaningful plateau so that you may be a vessel that toggles the carrot to transcend.

I'm constantly aware of the sand castle, its a constant reminder of borrowed time. My conversations with God have begun to take on a greater meaning, my prayers have become more specific to the person and not so generalized. The Heavenly Father hears all, I received a call today about a loved one who had fallen ill, and the request was that I pray for him, and I remember hanging up the phone feeling 'grace', because that specific relative I had already singled out with a special prayer request. Discernment relates to anointing, a pessimist wouldn't believe such a thing, so if you're a pessimist, pray for removal of that draining characteristic. Part of your travels are to lighten the load and lay burdens down, by lifting others up.

Houston goggle most searched .... 2012

The Late Whitney Houston Was The Year's Hottest Search

by Mark Memmott

The Feb. 11 death of singing superstar Whitney Houston sent her fans rushing to the Web, Google says in Year-End Zeitgeist Report about things that "piqued your curiosity" in 2012.

Her name is atop Google's most-searched lists in three categories — general searches, people and performing artists. Houston got more attention than "Gangnam style," "Hurricane Sandy," the presidential election and even "Kate Middleton pictures released."

Command Performance

Luke James is the new era of soul music, honoring the true core of what r&b and soul music is all about which is talent without gimmick.  It's a basic song of yearning, needs and desires, something in which we can all relate to.  He's nominated for a grammy for best soul male .... very worthy of his nomination.  "I Want You" shows his great vocal range AND it's sang LIVE.  Enjoy~

Nations Unite for monumental 12/12-12

December 12 - 2012 was a monumental day that we collectively as a nation got to witness, it's something that we'll never get to witness again in our lifetime. How amazing is it to sharef the ocassion together. Everyone who roams this earth, can say that we lived in a time of many firsts, as the world is changing. Let's embrace our differences, but respect that we arent all alike, the possibilities of what can be is utopia. The world through a childs eyes is Heavenly, D'Marco Morris(inset) is a one year old handsome little dude that's destined to take the world by storm.

December 12 - 2012 - Wiz Khalifa

Wiz Khalifa debuts @ #2 with his lastest CD .. ONIFC = Only N*gga In First Class.  This young man is brilliant.  He has swagg, and well I think he's just interesting to follow.  This day is special and once in a liftetime to witness, I also think we're witnessing Wiz at the top of his game, and that's a once in a lifetime thing too.  Strike while the Iron is hot.  He's engaged to his fiance' Amber Rose, yes Kanye's ex, and he's about to become a father any day now, so life is all gravy right now.  He's articulate with something to say, and  he loves his parents, and comes from a very strong background in Philadephia, his song "Black and Yellow" help the Pittsburgh Steelers to win a SuperBowl.

Classic Movie -- Classic Movies lines ...

The Color Purple is over 25 years old, but it seems like yesterday that I watched it for the very first time.  It's a timeless piece of art.  Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg both made their film debuts, with a star studded cast, the story deals with sisterly love, family incest, a lesbian affair, love betrayal, surrender, a juke joint, separation and the love of God.  Some of my favorite lines ...

RIP singer Jennis Rivera ...plane crased

Jenni Rivera died early this morning in Mexico after the plane she was flying on crashed shortly after takeoff, leaving no survivors. She was 43. Rivera's father and brother confirmed her death on Telemundo. such a tragedy, Jenni seemed as if her star was on the rise, and deemed just as quickly.  She leaves behind five daughers who are not without their mother.  I pray for the family members of everyone on the plane, this is such a sad story all around.

Four other passengers and two pilots were also aboard the plane. It was headed from Monterrey to Toluca, after Rivera performed in Monterrey on Saturday night. Mexico's transportation ministry says the plane lost contact with radar at 3:15 AM, approximately 61 miles from Monterrey.  Rivera was named one of the 25 most powerful women by People en Español and reportedly signed on recently to do a comedy pilot for ABC. She has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

Affirmation ...

Heavenly Father I thank you for another opportunity to grace the dawn of a new day.  Please protect me from hurt, harm, fear and danger, guide and direct my path, and honor me with favor, mercy and grace.  If God be for you, who can be against you.  I do not take any of the blessings in my life for granted, without you I know that I could not exist, nor would I want to.  Please allow me to have a closer personal relationship with you.  May I always be a vessel of your goodness, to express your will to the naysayers, and please let me always be an Angel to those that I encounter, who are in need.  Please continue to watch over the world, the sick and meek, the children who need protection, the hurricane Sandy victims, and anyone battling health issues.  Healthcare reform is almost here, I pray that cures are found for all the ailments in the world.  For those who walk in the belief of you I send love and light, and for the uncertain, I pray for their souls, and hope that they will be shone the light, which is you.  I gave thanks in the name of the son, the father and the holy ghost. No longer in the shadow Tamar Braxton with the moniker she me her, as immature and dumb as that lingo may sound, it works for her.  The youngest sister of singer Toni Braxton, Tamar is finally making her way front and center.  She released her single "Love and War" on December 6th within 24 hours it had reached #1 on iTunes.  It's been a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time coming, after a few false starts, with songs that didn't connect with the American public and record labels, who didn't back and promote her enough.
The buzz started for Tamar when her family's reality series The Braxtons became the most successful reality show for the WE network. Then Tamar did a reality series with her husband Vincent Herbert, who produces and managers Lady Gaga. Taking the reality route Tamar was able to show America her over the top personality, which tends to be TOO much, but when you get past all of that crazy dramatic nonsense, when she gets down to the business of singing, she's quite talented and deservant of a real try at superstardom.  "Love and War" is smoking hot r&b song and she sings the hell out of it.  If her first single is any indication of what's to come, she's going to be very successful, FINALLY and rightfully so.

Flow/TGIF

Happy Friday everyone ...  Let's Talk about It!!

Your flow is about moving forward for certainty, Movement is swift, the days are rushing by, turbulence will happen if you move against the current. Fast pace is the apparent race, but at the end of the day, we know who wins, and it has nothing to do with the swift, it's about the desire, the drive, and determination. The future can be bright, and when you have cleaned the residue of leftover baggage, you're capable of leaping to get over the highest hurdles. Life pendulum swings both ways, so be prepared to enter the gate that was left ajar, that may just be the opportunity that you were looking for, a chance to break through.

The mission is in knowing that what's meant for you is yours, you can never rewrite a missed opportunity. Irons in the fire means you're committed to perseverance of life with ability to hold steady and proceed. The ownership, speak of the constant work that is done on self, striving to get to the best that is in you. What you give to others, when it comes freely, your cup is bound to runneth over. Keeping tabs and taking score was never what your life mission was about, it's always about the educational value. The struggle to keep up, will only get harder and harder, it's all just par for the course.

What Are You Doing With Your Life?

Command Performance

"Somewhere Over The Rainbow" is a song that most Americans are familiar with.  It's a comfort food for the soul, it's ties us to the movie 'The Wizard of Oz'.  It's traditional, and reassuring with a sense of hope that all things are possible.  The song has been sung at least a million times, when a singer covers this classic, it can either be really good or very bad.  On rare occasion can someone bring something extra to a 'classic', on Monday night I witnessed a rare feet singer Nicholas David took me to the Heavens without leaving the earth, with his rendition. It was heartfelt, genuine, tender, timeless and sincere.  What I saw on that stage was an artist who God was truly using to decipher an incredible capsule in time. Great job Nicholas.  Sit back and listen to a real musical moment. Enjoy~

Jazz Legend Dave Brubeck dead at 91

Famed jazz pianist Dave Brubeck -- the man behind the famous song "Take Five" -- has died.  Brubeck's manager said the music icon passed away in Connecticut this morning due to heart failure, while on his way to a cardiology appointment. He was 91. His birthday is tomorrow.  Brubeck was a living legend -- having written several jazz staples like "In Your Own Sweet Way" and "The Duke." The Dave Brubeck quartet recorded "Take Five" all the way back in 1959.  In 1954, Brubeck was the first modern jazz musician to be featured on the cover of Time magazine.

Brubeck is survived by his wife, four sons, a daughter, grandsons and a great granddaughter.
