Delta Dawn called Home ...

DAMN DAMN DAMMIT!!! The death of Helen Reddy is a hard blow for me.  She provided the most lovingly soundtrack for my family.  Her ‘You and Me against The World’ was the song of all songs between my Mom and I.

Reddy died on Tuesday in Los Angeles, her family said in a statement on Facebook.

Her children Traci Donat and Jordan Sommers described her as a "wonderful mother, grandmother, and a truly formidable woman".

"Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever."

Diagnosed with dementia in 2015, Reddy spent the last years of her life in a celebrity care home in Los Angeles.

She had a string of pop and rock hits in the 1970s, but is best known for the 1972 anthem I Am Woman - a rousing tune which became prominent in the women's liberation movement.

A Revisit on Vesta Williams ..

**Revisit** The entertainment world recently mourned the 9-year anniversary loss of singer Vesta Williams (Dec 1 - 1957 - September 22, 2011) Her talent can’t be denied, unfortunately, her greatest fetes were not to be while here on earth. Below is an article that wrote on her passing In 2011:**

R&B singer Vesta Williams was found dead in her Hotel room in Los Angeles, she was 53. Cops are still investigating the cause of death.

I had the pleasure to work with the singer Vesta Williams aka simply as VESTA, during my years of working for Polygram Group Distribution in San Francisco. At the time she was a recording artist for A&M records. When I first met her she was a PISTOL bubbly, funny, charismatic, and VERY driven. She could brighten any room.

The entertainment industry is a hard pill to digest, The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Vesta started out singing background for various big-name singers like Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, and Sting's (We'll Be Together). She signed on to Herb Albert's A&M imprint. Her debut album '4 U' spawn for top ten r&b singles including her signature song 'Congratulations' which went all the way to #1. Unfortunately, her follow up-recordings did not meet with similar fate.  Pop radio wasn't open to another full figured r&b igenue trying to cross over. Vesta was not one to take no for an answer, she lost over 100 pounds in hopes that the industry would let her talent and new weight size speak and seal her rightful place in history books, but to no avail.

If you ever wanted to hear a singer who could wail like Chaka Khan she was it, if you every watched the Oprah Winfrey produced miniseries on ABC called 'The Women Of Brewster Place' it was her voice heavily featured throughout the movie. Her talent never wavered even when the gigs were few and far between. She never gave up hope on her talent and unique gift. To this day I've yet to understand how the entertainment industry would choose gimmick over true talent.

In recent years Vesta was recording new material and poised to give it another shot, that wasn't to be, which is such a hard pill to swallow for this artists legion of fans.

For anyone who would like to know more about this talented artist, you can tune into TVOne's series 'Unsung' which will feature a hour long segment on Vesta Williams that she recorded a few weeks ago, that will air in mid-October.

You can also revisit her catalog, some of her highlight songs were 'Congratulations’, Tell Me', Over and Over, 'All In Your Mind', ‘Sweet Sweet Love', 'Suddenly Its Magic' ‘Better Days’, ‘Dont You Blow A Good Thing Baby’ are just some of the many standouts in this songbirds 20+year career.

R.I.P. Vesta Williams ..... Heaven has just recruited another songbird to its Choir.

When a Black man speaks on BLM he loses his job!! GTFOH

Doc Rivers is out as head coach of the LA Clippers following a season that fell well short of championship expectations after the team landed All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George last summer.

"Thank you Clipper Nation for allowing me to be your coach and for all your support in helping make this a winning franchise," Rivers said in a statement posted to Twitter on Monday. "When I took this job, my goals were to make this a winning basketball program, a free agent destination, and bring a championship to this organization.

"While I was able to accomplish most of my goals, I won't be able to see them all through. Though it was a disappointing ending to our season, you are right there and I know what this team is capable of accomplishing with your support.

"Thank you to all the players, coaches, and staff for helping us get here. Most importantly, thank you to the fans. We went through a lot, and I am grateful for my time here." #docrivers #clippers #owners #slaves #mattbarnes #stephenjackson #kyrieirving #lebronjames #blm #blackslivesmatter #nba #basketball

Sedentary/TGIF

If you are sedentary in your life but are puzzled why things are not advancing, fault and blame can only be placed on self.   Prayer works and is very powerful, you have to do your part too.  What are you willing to give of yourself, in the quest of your prayer?  Be mindful of what you ask for, clearly be aware of all your surroundings.  The air you breathe is a blessing, the heart that is beating, it's by design, there are a plan and purpose meant for you.  Things are not always what they seem,  proceed with caution, and focus with your eyes open, give enough distance not to be caught blindsided.   Your talks with GOD can not be ordinary, and lifting your hands to him can not be seasonal.  This is about the most high, dream Godly dreams, the big answers will come.  If your radical, don't question a radical result.  Things that come into your life, will always be greater than you could ever know.  Never go back on a promise, your word should be trusted gold.

Running away from your problems is a race that you won't win.  Face your challenges head-on, its work, and things aren't always greeted with savory results.   'The Power of Now' talks about how many times we are present in a capsule, but our minds are adrift.  To sit and wonder is not productive.  Let us be fully intentional about being present, and the people we choose to commune with, in our lives.  We are mortals who constantly keep evolving into greater beings.  Complacency is not an option.

What  Are You Doing with Your Life?

Say Amen ...

Composure

STOP wasting time on something that isn't yours.  Dead end roads leave the heart yearning and fighting a losing battle.  Channel that wasted energy into yourself, absolutely you are worth it. Though at times you've seem lost along the way, the focus is 'today' clear the haze, the wave has shifted into new horizons with much brighter forecasts.  Learn to smile in every situation.  See it as an opportunity to improve your strength and ability.  The ‘Never’ let them see you sweat is the correct theory, always keep your composure, most especially under pressure.
