Whyyyy .... Sandra Bland ???

Why????? 5 years later ... NO Justice No Peace. No SOLUTIONS!!

Sandra Bland was a 28 year old African American woman who was found hanged in a jail cell in Waller County, Texas, on July 13, 2015, three days after being arrested during a pretextual traffic stop.  Her death was ruled a suicide. It was followed by protests against her arrest, disputing the cause of death and alleging racial violence against her

Bland was pulled over for a minor traffic violation on July 10  2015 by State Trooper Brian Encinia. The exchange escalated, resulting in Bland's arrest and a charge for assaulting a police officer. The arrest was partially recorded by Encinia's dashcam, a bystander's cell phone, and Bland's own cell phone. After authorities reviewed the dashcam footage, Encinia was placed on administrative leave for failing to follow proper traffic stop procedures.

Texas authorities and the FBI conducted an investigation into Bland's death and determined the Waller County jail did not follow required policies, including time checks on inmates and ensuring that employees had completed required mental health training.

In December 2015, a grand jury declined to indict the county sheriff and jail staff for a felony relating to Bland's death. The following month, Encinia was indicted for perjury for making false statements about the circumstances surrounding Bland's arrest, and he was subsequently fired by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
In September 2016, Bland's mother settled a wrongful death lawsuit against the county jail and police department for $1.9 million and some procedural changes.  In June 2017, the perjury charge against Encinia was dropped in return for his agreement to permanently end his law enforcement career.

In 2019, Bland's cell phone video became available to the public and to Bland's family for the first time.  The video was obtained and shown by Dallas news station WFAA.  This video was not available during the civil trials.  This story will never make sense t me.  A 1.9 million dollar payout is BULLSH*T!  Bland was just starting to live her life, never reaching her full potential.  STOP KILLING US!!!

Mr. Wilson was among the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2021 honorees announced last week. Also announced as honorees in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category were English classical crossover singer Sarah Brightman and the late noted opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti.

He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for “Fences” in 1987 and “The Piano Lesson” in 1990. The film version of “Fences” gained Oscar nominations for Mr. Wilson for adapted screenplay and for star Denzel Washington and a best supporting actress Oscar win for Viola Davis.

So Hard to Say Goodbye ....

Grandfather for so long, you were my Hero, my Favorite for everything.  When I got the call today, about your passing, so many emotions rushed through my mind.  I'm left with nothing  but memories of a time gone by.  Life is all about the encounters and the lessons, learned along the way.  With each breathe that I take, I owe a large part of that to you.  Regret exists too, but nothing trumps the impact that we provided one another.  I rest in comfort today, knowing that at 95 years of age, you surpassed your three scores and ten.  You are with Grandmother Oleava, where you so wanted to be, for the last nine years.  To merely exist without her, was the most heartbreaking thing, to watch.  I know that we will meet again, I know that you will come to me, in my dreams, to let me know that you're well, that we're back to the  place, that we use to be, and most al,l to let me know that you're FINALLY at home, at peace and resting still.  Wherever you may roam, I roam with you, I remember you, I will always love and miss you.  Kiss Grandmother for me.  Peaceful Journey

MISSING YOU

Remembering - Natalie Cole.  2016 will go down as the year that took away,  some of the brightest lights in the Entertainment Industry.  We're two weeks away from 2017 and 16, still isn't showing any mercy, As recent as a few days ago, we lost Alan Thicke.    The first MAJOR loss of 2016, started flooding the airways on New Years Day, when the news broke that Legendary, Grammy Award winning singer Natalie Cole had passed away, the night before.  Cole came from royalty, her family were known in the Entertainment circles as being the Black Kennedys.  Her stock was just that good.  She grew up the exclusive Hancock Park area of Los Angeles.  Classy. Sophisticated, Well Versed, Elite, Elegant, Style Personified are all words that could easily be attached to the name Natalie Cole.  She was the familiar fun family member, who could light up any room.  Not to mention her vocal chops singing some of America's favorite songs 'This Will Be', 'Inseparable', 'I've Got Love On My Mind', 'Our Love', 'Pink Cadillac, 'Mr. Melody, 'I Live For Your Love, 'Jump Start', Miss You Like Crazy, and 'Unforgettable' which span a 30 plus year career.

On December 31, 2015, Cole died at the age of 65 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, due to congestive heart failure.  Almost one year later, the world is still mourning her loss.

Remembering ...

Remembering - Her style and Grace!!! Her legacy will live on.  Nat and Natalie UNITED again.  Truly Unforgettable.

Natalie Cole -- one of the great voices in decades -- has died ... TMZ has learned.

Cole, whose hits include "This Will Be" and "Unforgettable" which she performed as a virtual duet with dad Nat King Cole -- died from congestive heart failure, although we're told the underlying medical issues were complications from a kidney transplant and Hepatitis C.

Natalie had been very sick recently, cancelling several tour dates in late December including a New Year's Eve concert at Disney Hall in L.A. She also cancelled an upcoming February concert due to illness.

Natalie struggled with substance abuse and was plagued with health problems, suffering from liver disease in 2008. She also underwent chemo for Hepatitis C.

Natalie, who was married 3 times and has a son, was 65.

She died in a Los Angeles hospital.

Rest In Peace!!!

Rest In Peace ...

Rest In Peace - William Guest was a co-founding member of one of my all time favorite groups Gladys Knight And the Pips.
Guest died Thursday at the age of 74, the Associated Press reports.

Guest's sister-in-law Dhyana Ziegler told the AP that Guest died in Detroit of congestive heart failure.

Ziegler, who helped Guest release his autobiography, Midnight Train from Georgia: A Pip's Journey, in 2013, told the AP, "I am so glad we finished the book, so his wonderful life and legacy will be celebrated throughout eternity. I loved my brother so much."

"My heart is broken, but I know his legacy will live on," Guest's daughter Monique said in a statement.

Guest, who was a cousin of Gladys Knight, performed background vocals with Gladys Knight and the Pips from 1953 until their split in 1989, on hit tracks like "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." The band received Grammy Awards in 1973 and 1988, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and received the 1998 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation.

After the group split to allow Knight to pursue a solo career, Guest and fellow Pip Edward Patten formed Patten and Guest Productions. Following Patten's 2005 death, Guest continued to manage artists as CEO of Crew Records, which he had formed with other members of Patten's family.
