Trump cancels on Kimmel

Late Night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, 47, was not happy when Donald Trump, 69, backed out of appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live only hours before he was due to tape his segment on the Oct. 20 episode. The late night funny man actually went on a tirade against the Republican presidential candidate and let loose with some hilarious jokes.

“I’m dying to find out what this major political commitment was. Usually, it means he has to go on CNN to call someone an idiot, or something,” Jimmy joked, before adding, “Why did he cancel? We told him there were cameras here, right? Are Tuesday nights the night he volunteers down at the orphanage? But don’t worry, we’re giving everyone in our audience a basketball dipped in cologne — so you can fully experience what it would have been like if he was here. The good news of Donald not being here tonight is, now we don’t have to build a wall around Guillermo.”

The drama started when the GOP candidate abruptly pulled out of his scheduled appearance due to a “political obligation,” a Trump spokeswoman told CNN in a statement, adding that “Mr. Trump is rescheduling his appearance and looks forward to being on the show in the next few weeks.” Unfortunately, that wasn’t good enough for the late-night host, who used the last-minute ditch as ammo for his live segment.

Ahead of Trump’s dropping out, Jimmy revealed that unlike the Donald’s other late-night appearances, his Jimmy Kimmel Live! segment at the Brooklyn Academy of Music was not going to be a traditional interview.“I’m not interviewing him, ” he explained to CNN. “It will be in studio, it’ll be live, and it’ll all make perfect sense when you see it.” If we ever do!
