Flashback Who's That ...

Flashback Who's That Thursday:

Dawn Robinson rose to fame in the early 1990s as a member of the R&B quartet En Vogue, one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. Following her departure from the group, Robinson joined Lucy Pearl and they released their self-titled debut album in 2000, which sold a million copies worldwide and produced the top charting single "Dance Tonight".  I often wonder what happens to the 'dream' that groups, who begin as friends, then turn enemies or have the clash of ego's. Is it a dream deferred?  Clearly Dawn Ribibsin can sing, she's marketable, unfortunately after her exit from 'En Vogue' left a void, arguably she was the favorite in the group. Teaming up with the rap coalition 'The Firm' for their hit 'Firm Biz' to the now defunct group 'Lucy Pearl' with their hit 'Dance Tonight'.  Robinson has always been viewed as the  'difficult' one.  Seemingly issues with every attachment, that she's been a part of, begs to question, is she?
With all the negativity behind her, in 2002 she finally released he long-awaited solo album 'Dawn' which failed to ignite with radio audiences or her fans.  A clear case of  'too much, too little, too late'.  Perhaps her journey would have been smoother, had she remained with 'En Vogue'. #DawnRobinson #EnVogue #TheFirm #DrDre  #LucyPearl
