Flashback Who's That:

Flashback who's that Thursday:

UK soul singer Mica Paris came on the scene in 1988 and was the talk all over the United Kingdom.  He debut CD' 'So Good' found its way to America with her single 'My One Temptation' and started her legions of fans stateside.  'So Good' garnered her awards and rave reviews.  The influence of gospel, rock, jazz and soul could easily be heard everytime she stepped up to a microphone.   After her platinum debut CD, one would assume that she was on her way to worldwide stardom and fame.  Her followup CD 'Contribution' with a Prince written single failed to match the success of her debut.  Her record label grew antsy trying to figure out how to market and promote her.

In 1993 her management team and record label, had a brilliant ideal to bring her stateside and team her with super hot producer Narada Michael Walden (Aretha Franklin  Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Annie Lennox). Together the duo created a masterpiece called 'Whisper A Prayer' featuring well received singles such as 'I Want To Hold On To You', 'Never Felt This Way Before' (produced by ultra funky producer Peter Black) and 'You Put A Move On My Heart' (which became a r&b hit for singer 'Tamia' one year later).  'Prayer' though receiving rave reviews, it did not produce blockbuster sales that her label was expecting and hoping for.  Twenty years later that Disc, is STILL relevant, which is a testament of the production, talent and mastery of Mica and Narada.  Mica has since switched labels a few times, unfortunately super stardom wasn't her fate.  She released a few more CD's in which one was a 'Best Of' and recently her debut CD 'So Good' has been re-issued.  Today Mica still records, tours and is a mother of two girls Monet and Russia-Mae.   She's also an Ambassador for the 'Amy Winehouse' foundation. Check out Mica's catalog you will love her stellar smokey vocals, surely born to captivate you.
