Flashback Who's That Thursday ...

Flashback Who's That Thursday

If you want to really know what the 'real' Beyonce' Knowles is like, just ask LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson.  The music industry is a beast!  In 1993, LeToya Luckett joined Beyoncé Knowles, LaTavia Roberson, and Kelly Rowland to complete the Houston-based R&B group, Destiny's Child. After being signed and later dropped by Elektra Records, the group eventually signed with Columbia Records in 1997, but not before signing with 'suspect' Mathew Knowles the group's manager (AND also Beyoncé Knowles' father).  After two highly successful Destiny's Child Albums, which she was awarded two Grammy Awards.   Luckett and Roberson were ostracized by the Knowles family and fired from the group.  Later winning a lawsuit against Mathew Knowles for an undisclosed amount.

She began her solo career after signing a record deal with Capitol Records. Her solo debut album, LeToya was released in 2006 and topped the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart in July 2006, and was certified platinum by the RIAA in December 2006. The single, "Torn", achieved records on BET's top ten countdown show 106 & Park. She was also named "One of the Best New Artists of 2006" by AOL and the "Top Songwriter of 2006" by ASCAP.   The Knowles machine was in HIGH gear to sabotage Lucketts second solo album.   With payola in place she received VERY little airplay, which prevented her Lady Love  project from getting the attention that it deserved.  It was released on 25 August 2009, in spite of the Knowles payola propaganda it debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart but failed to top the Billboard 200 chart, like its predecessor.  With the Capital/Virgin records merger Lucketts was dropped.  These days she's acting, still running her Lady Elle Boutiques in Houston Texas and is currently working on her third CD 'Until Then'.
