Underrated!

Sherree Brown is a r&b/gospel singer formerly known as 'Sherree Ford Payne', has been in the Entertainment Industry for over two decades. She was originally signed to jazz musician Herb Albert's now defunct 'Almo' record label. I was among the select few who were lucky enough to get my hands on her debut CD which never saw the light of day. The 'Almo' record label never got off the ground and Sherree's debut unfortunately fell through the cracks. Its absurd that she wasn't able to shop it to another label because it was a r&b masterpiece. I still play that CD to this day. In between recording and touring the country, Sherree is a mother and has sang background for some the best singers in the industry. Her voice is the truth, the strength of her tone is heavenly to the ears. She continues to release her music on indie record labels as well as touring the country with her own unique brand of gospel, r&b and jazz. Again when you hear a voice like Sherree's that '....' word comes up again. Luckily she sings because its her GOD given talent and her ministry to touch lives with her gift.

I havent had a crush on someone in a 'VERY' long time but Melissa DeSousa is making me feel all kind of ways.  She fully has every part of my body at full 'ATTENTION'.  She was the highlight as 'Shelby' in 'Best Man Holiday'.  I was laughing, crying and falling in love every time she graced the screen.  I found myself doing research on her, so she's but dating a study somebody. ONLY until she meets me. LoL DeSousa has been in the Entertainment game for over twenty years, the rules are always different and harder for us.  Our talent always prevails. Ugh She is a complete BANGER!!!

Lauryn Hill returns ...

Superstar Lauryn Hill is back from her asylum.  The singer played live in NYC picking up where she left off with 'The Misseducation'.  Hard to believe she is finally working on the followup to her 'Album Of The Year' opus.  Having recently signed a new contract with Sony music.  All personal life aside, the focus is on the music, which was clearly evident in her LIVE show.  Hill seemed very happy and at peace with herself.  While out of the limelight she gave birth to six kids.  Her frame is still tiny, but when opens her mouth to belt her vocals are still golden.  Well back Ms. Lauryn Hill, you were missed.

Gone Too Soon

Brittany Murphy was a bright bubbly spark who warmed her way into our hearts.  Her journey ended far too soon.  She was a very refreshing spirit and geniune and well intended. I will always remember the quirky girl with the gigantic smile.   My favorite work of hers was her role in 'Girl Interrupted'.

Shakeup or Breakup?

Uh-Oh .... Justin 'Sexy back' Timberlake and wifey Jessica Biel. Is another Hollywood divorce on the horizon? There are rumors spreading that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel might be on the brink of splitting up. Some recent behavior from the two has everyone wondering if these two are going to stick it out. 

Jessica wasn’t present at Justin’s appearance on Saturday Night Live and JT was spotted without his wedding band on during his new tour.
“Justin was solo again at the Saturday Night Live after party and he stayed until nearly 5 a.m.,” a fellow partygoer exclusively told Radar.
“Everyone was buzzing about her absence.”
“She wasn’t with him at rehearsals on Friday either, which was sort of weird,” the source said.
“And it’s not that Justin was flirting with other women or anything at the party but something just didn’t seem right. It was literally what everyone was talking about; whether he and Jessica have split.”

Timberlake did have his wedding band on at the party but barely spoke of his wife, the insider revealed. She does have a career of her own as an actress, so their schedules could just be conflicting. Plus they seem to be a private couple, but you never know.

Happy Friday Everyone, ... Let's Talk about It!! 

Some birds aren't meant to be caged, so why clip their wings.  Its about soaring above and beyond the realm of what is considered 'normal'.  Average is second best, and has no place when you're first rate.  The quality that you give, its a belief in yourself.  Failing opens the gates to forgiveness, it doesn't always mean that you forget 
no matter how minuscule the event or situation was.  

Maturity teaches us that we're not innocent, we are willing participants, a key ingredient, even when we appear not to be.  We must not look to others as the escape goat.  That 'poor me' role is so passé, its now viewed as 'selfish' me.  Do the work, teach from the experience.  Make a promise to yourself that you'll be smarter the next time around. If you can't move on it shows the obtuse side of you.  Mistakes are bound to happen, its the recovery thats the tried, tested and true testament.

'STILL' loving Teena Marie

Three years ago today, the world got the news that our beloved blue-eyed soul singer Teena Marie had passed away.  The news came as a complete shock, I couldnt breathe, I didnt believe it, and immediately I was hurting in pain.  She was a beautiful person, a friend and I was a fan.  The last time that we were together was October, and two short months later she was gone.  Life is that constanst reminder to love, forgive and cease all the moments of great opportinity.  Teena was a true lover of Soul music and the African America culture.  Easily she could have taken a different road that of a Pop or Rock singer for the $$$, but that wasnt the type of person she was.  Against her record label urging, she was a WHITE soul singer and her legions of fans, largely the African American and Latino culture fully embraced her with open arms.

She was the artist who granted me my first interview, when I was fourteen, and the love affair never ended.  Today Im thinking of Lady Tee Teena Marie and remembering ALL the great times of music and fellowshipping.  Her musical legacy forever will remain Immortal.  Rest In Peace ... I know that you're in great company.  I miss you!!!

The King of R&B, R. Kelly, and the Queen of Hip-Hop/ Soul, Mary J.Blige, are joining forces for an upcoming tour, according to R. Kelly.

 “We’re working on the Black Panties tour right now, but before we get into the “Black Panties Tour,” I’m going on tour with Mary J. We’re doing a King and Queens tour,” Kelly told WBLS 107.5 during a recent interview.

While details on the tour, including when it will kick off and how long it will run, aren’t yet available, Kelly is looking forward to performing songs from his recently released album,”Black Panties.”

Goodbye Candlestick Park

As a child growing up in San Francisco, I have fawn memories of going to see the Forty - Niners play on Sundays with my family.  I remember watching football greats like Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Roger Craig, Steve Young and the legendary coach Bill Walsh.  Its with a heavy heart that Tonight I witnessed an end of our era. My folks are no longer here, now the 'Niners' will no longer play at Candlestick Park.  Like some many times before, they left their mark and tonight was no different. With their win today, they are now 'PLAYOFF' bound. Such a GREAT win and they are leaving on a high note. I will NEVER forget my wonderful memories of witnessing magic happening in the 'STICK'.  Thanks for the memories.

The people that are quick to walk away, are the ones who never intended to stay.  Be strong, you never know who you are inspiring.  If you're lucky to live long enough, something or someone will humble you.  If you do not know your worth, how can you say what you deserve.  Its up to you to set the tone for your' standards and ethical levels.  Every positive thought propels you into the right direction to advance the quality of your life.  Conspicuously the writing is on the wall, though some will opt not to read it, all the while wearing their rose colored glasses, then finding themselves wondering why.  You make the questions hard, when you fail to supply correct answers.  

Taking the measured steps assures your destiny.  Careful not to blink, or else you'll miss it.  Makes sure that you're positioned to be in the right place, for the right time.  Failing to do so will be another persons good news day.  As the year end nears, we must take ownership and clean house, where is your focus; what is your focus?   The season is always filled with the best of intentions.  If you stop holding the diapers, then just maybe people will stop expecting you to clean up their sh-t.   Let us bask in those good feelings and let it overflow into your life and surroundings, today and forevermore.  There's much work to do, which is part of the mystery of life.  The wheel continues to turn, where or when it will stop few seldom know.  Its called the 'Here and Now', we've all been actively cast for specific parts to play.  Release your thoughts as you breathe in the positives and rid yourself of the toxic negatives poisons,  it should help to cleanse the soul, as the eye of this earth never sleeps.

Happy 80th Birthday Cicely Tyson ...

Cicely Tyson is one of the greatest actresses of our time.   Her peers are Katherine Hepburn, Helen Hayes, Bette Davis, Ruby Dee, Shirley McLaine, Judy Dench and Meryl Streep.  Yes she's in that league of royalty.  Today she turns 80 years.  She's a living legend with a extraodinary body of work, from 'Miss Jane Pittman, 'Sounder'. 'Roots', 'Fried Green Tomatoes' to the 'Road To Bountiful', she's done it all.  She started her career as a fashion model, before branching off into acting, and wasbriefly married to the late great jazz legend Miles Davis.  

To the African American community and culture she's regarded as one of our Queens.  Have a Happy Blessed 80th Birthday Ms. Cicely Tyson.  Thanks for setting of great example in your body of work, something we all can be proud of.

Singer Aaliyah ((RIP) and Oscar winning actress Halle Berry taking out a moment to pose for the cameras and say hello.  Aaliyah lost her life in a tragic plane accident August 25, 2001.  Her star was on the rise, unfortunately that was not meant to be, her Destiny was meant and needed elsewhere.

Singers who 'really' SING!!

Tamia Hill has been on the scene since the mid-nineties.  Unfortunately never with the breakthrough that she rightfully deserves.  Now mix that in with Record Label politics and you come to have a better understanding of why she's not a household name.  The up side to her story is that she's in a succesful marriage to Basketball great Grant Hill.  The couple have two adorable children.  Tamia grew tired of Industry politics that she opted to promote her music independently and has found some lukewarm successes, but its gratifying to still be around twenty years later, in an Industry where youre considered yesterdays news, two weeks after you started.

Her most recent single 'Beautiful Surprise' surprisingly found a nice home at adult Urban radio, where it was a staple for several months.  She has the voice of an angel with Octaves to match.  Give her a listen, you wont be disappointed. 

Renee' Olstead is a young jazz vocalist with pipes that goes well beyond her years.  Her case is very simliar to Tamia's.  Signed to a record label that doesnt know how to promote her, nor do  they know what to do with her.  Her debut was released when she was just a teenager, again a BIG voice beyond her years, her label wanted her to sing bubble gum Pop to contend with Britney Spears, Pink, Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani who were all on fire a decade ago.  At 16  she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show singing the Louis Armstrong classic 'What A Wonderful World'.  The crowd rose to their feet worshipping and adoring her, but the exposure did not generate record sales.  Today Renee' is still singing her heart in concert in between acting gigs.  If your want to listen to great jazz standards by a young voice that will blow your socks off give Renee' Olstead a try.

Billboard has crowned Bruno Mars as its Artist of the Year over many musicians who grabbed more headlines through the year such as Miley Cyrus, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.

Whats really exciting about Mars and what seperates him from most other artists, is his ability to perform LIVE with orginality, as he always pays homage to stars of generations past.  He's eager to keep growing as an artist and is not afraid to think outside of the box. kk

Billboard pointed out that Mars’ album generated three Top 10 singles and that his Moonshine Jungle world tour ranked in the Top 25 tours of the year. He returns to the road on Feb. 28 and his tour is slated to reach Los Angeles at some point next year, as the itinerary is still to be announced.

Beyonce Knowles new CD 'Beyonce' which was released late Thursday night, is surely proving her Record Label wrong AND the naysayers.  Her new CD is set to debut at #1 after only four days of release. She has sold over 400,000 copies easily enough to dislodge Country singer Garth Brooks from the #1 position.  Industry insiders felt that her no promo release was risky and bold at the same time.  It seems that Beyonce' and Jay Z know a thing or two about generating buzz and hype.  I think with the release of 'Beyonce' and the sales success from it, she has single handedly change the game of record releases, no worries about leaks and downloads, as no one was aware that it was dropping. So congratulations 'Bey' your bold move worked, and youre the conversation piece of the moment, you have everyone's ATTENTION, just like you wanted!! BOOM!

Momma 'O' talks to the Hollywood Reporter ...

Taking time away from her busy schedule, Oprah Winfrey graced the cover of The Hollywood Reporter.

During her sit down with the publication, the 59-year-old television personality opened up about her Broadway dreams and even shared details about how others took advantage of her.

Highlights from Winfrey's interview are as follows. 

On "The Oprah Winfrey Show":

"The only thing I ever questioned about leaving [the show] was the timing. Should I have waited and then started OWN separately? Should I have tried to start it earlier? But the actual ending of the show, I never wanted to be in the position of ever having people say, 'You shoulda come out of the rain.'"

On her successor:

"There won’t be a 'next Oprah.' Just like there won’t be another Barbara Walters, Aretha Franklin or Whitney Houston. People who make their mark in the way that they made it, that’s it."

On her generosity:

"When you're the most successful person in your family, in your neighborhood and in your town, everybody thinks you're the First National Bank and you have to figure out for yourself where those boundaries are. I got to the point where nobody ever asked me for anything less than $5,000. I felt pressured for a long time to say yes, because I thought, 'I can't lie and say I don't have it. My salary is printed in the paper. I've bought more houses and cars than I can even tell you."

On her interest in Broadway:

"It's something I would like to do, but I'd like to get settled in my house, have a life and then make the next move. I'd just like to be in the space where I really feel like I have nothing to prove. I think I'm just about there."

Paul William Walker laid to rest ...

So sad. On Dec. 14, the two-week anniversary of Paul’s sudden, tragic death, the actor was laid to rest at a cemetery in the Hollywood Hills. It's still such a hard pill to swallow, he was truly an all around good guy.  My heart goes out to his 15 year old daughter, his parents and the rest of his loved ones.  I do know that when one is absent from the body, they are present with GOD! Rest In Peace Paul Walker, your impression will never be forgotten. KK

It has been an extremely difficult two weeks since Paul Walker tragically died in a fiery car accident, and after much mourning and memorializing, his remains were interred on Dec. 14 during an emotional funeral at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.

Jameis Winston wins Heisman ...

Against all odds Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, the nation's top-rated passer who led his team to college football's title game in his first season, was named the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Saturday as the country's best collegiate player.

Winston, 19, became the youngest player and second straight redshirt freshman to win the award, following Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Winston completed nearly 68 percent of his passes for 3,820 yards, 38 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Undefeated Florida State plays Auburn in the Jan. 6 Bowl Championship Series title game.

Winston won the 79th Heisman over the five other finalists invited to ceremonies in New York: Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, who finished second; Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch, who finished third; Boston College running back Andre Williams, who finished fourth; Manziel, who finished fifth; and Auburn running back Tre Mason.

The award came just nine days after a Florida prosecutor announced that Winston would not be charged in the alleged rape of a female student at Florida State, and a day after the woman's attorney called for an independent investigation into the year-old case. Winston has maintained his innocence, and Florida Gov. Rick Scott says the case is closed.  Sabotage did not work this time. Congratulations Jameis Winston, remember the world is watching with all eyes.

Madonna 80's Pop star, STILL ...

The 80's were easy breezy days.  Madonna released her 'True Blue' CD channeling her inner Marilyn Monroe.  It was her 3rd CD and she was well on her way.  She was married to actor 'Sean Penn' and her single 'Papa Don't Preach' was the #1 song in the country.  Some 30 years later she's still at the top of her game, she was recently listed as the highest grossing female singer, raking in over a 120 million dollars last year.  Not bad for a 54 year old.

Stirring up some holiday excitement, performers and stars of all kinds packed New York City's Madison Square Garden last night (December 13) for the annual Jingle Ball.

Presented by Z100 and Aeropostale, the big event boasted performances by Miley Cyrus, who just couldn't resist twerking with Santa, Selena Gomez, and Robin Thicke, who belted out his hit "Blurred Lines."

Topping the bill for these major-market shows are the likes of Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Ariana Grande, Austin Mahone, FloRida, Selena Gomez, Enrique Iglesias, Jason Derulo, Fifth Harmony and One Republic. In addition, the Z100 concert will be featured on The CW Network as a two-hour special airing Dec. 18.

Lamar Odom is FINALLY a free man ..

Basketball superstar Lamar Odom and his ex-madam wifey filed for Divorce from him, citing  'irreconcilable differences'. The moral of this story is that you do not marry someone after dating for only one month.  After four troubled years of marriage, so much for in good and bad, sickness and in health.  Odom's wife and her families dynasty was built and based on being gold diggers.  Her devil worshipping family is related to the owner of TMZ.  Clearly all involved were out to throw Odom under the bus.  A few months back the family leaked to TMZ that Odom was addicted to Cocaine, and played the simpathy angle of the poor suportive wife.  I say its BULLSH*T!  They were out for blood to destroy him.  Luckily for Odom, (who is worth 100 million dollars) he has a few tricks up his sleeve, he's in talks with a few publishing companies for a 'tell all' which could expose the true dirty deeds of his soon to be ex's Devil worshipping ways.  One of the things he'll expose is who his ex's wife's famous father really is.  She's no Kardasian.  Ironically Odom's wife is the sole beneficary of a 10 million dollar Life Insurance policy, that boggles my mind.  The Divorce should be pretty cut and dry, she gets their 4 million dollar Tarzana, Ca home and 500,000 per year of marriage.  Both opted not to seek spousal support.  The ex-wife has already moved on to another sucker baseball's 'Matthew Kemp' his pockets are deep too.  Told you this family has no shame, and love the deep pockets of the Black Rich and Famous!

Good luck Lamar, now maybe you can focus on whats really important, which is rehab, Basketball and getting your life back, after living under a scrutiny hellous four years.  You're free again 'Run Forrest Run'.

Its so much easier to smile than frown, happiness Ignites the warm special feeling that gets our blood flowing.  When someone makes you feel special its a good tiding throughout.  Its the impression that we're left, that we'll always remember most, especially when its a well intended gesture.  Striving for perfection is a testament of hard work and dedication that one puts forth.  Things that you ask of our Father, has already been granted, not as expedient as you would like, remember its in His allotted time not yours. Im learning not to ponder what the King allows the Universe to usher to me each day, I embrace it, because unlike before I now know its for my specific growth, maturity and development.

Refection is the purist form of self representation.   To be a diamond understand the pressure that it takes and what comes along with it, for maintenance sake.  The glory is never free, so be prepared for the work thats required for the accolades.  Some are afraid to die, but living to merely exist, where is the reward in that ideology?   God is working in your life, right now, In ways you've yet to understand.    Every means of transport has a set delivery time on earth, the same is true for Heaven, thats when the love affair really begins.

Just minutes before midnight EST Friday (Dec. 13) morning, Beyonce released her fifth album, a self-titled set, exclusively on iTunes. Details are still emerging on confirmed producers, but guests credited on the "exclusive visual album" are Jay Z, Drake, Frank Ocean and daughter Blue Ivy.

Beyonce's self-titled album -- her fifth studio effort, and first since 2011's "4" -- arrived on Thursday night (Dec. 12) without prior warning. The 14-song collection features "Drunk In Love," a new collaboration with husband Jay Z; "Mine," featuring Drake; Superpower, with her "I Miss You" collaborator Frank Ocean; and "Blue," a song with her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. "XO," long rumored to be a single from the singer's new album, also appears on the track list.

He’s definitely the standout star of One Direction, but Harry Styles isn’t looking to leave his lads behind anytime soon.

Normally Jennifer Hudson doesn't do it for me.  Other than her 'Effie' role, I dont get the rest of her hype, UNTIL I heard her new 'feel good' joint called 'I Can't Describe' it takes you on a funky ride, very  reminiscent of Evelyn Champagne King's 'Im In Love'.  Pharrell did his thing on the trick, then invited T.I. to the party .... And its On!!  Makes you want to get your groove on.  L'eggo!!

Forever missing Whitney Houston

Even though the writing was on the wall, I think collectively the world was rooting for her to beat her drug addiction, and return to her true celebrity, which was her voice.  The Entertainment is a beast, very few get out alive or unchanged.  Its a love hate affair, the media builds you up to take you down.  Paparazzi are EVERYWHERE, all a part of the nature of the world called 'Show Business'.  The artist has to have a string team of 'genuine' people in their camp and not 'yes' people who are strictly on payroll to blow smoke and ride the money train.  Whitney's talent could not be denied, unfortunately she didn't always recognize her gift of greatness.  No one can deny that at the top of her game, she really was peerless over 422 Awards ... More than any other Entertainer EVER.  She will never be forgotten.  I feel in love when her the first time I heard 'You Give Good Love' and I've loved her ever since.

I find that truancy and leniency excuses accountability.   Depth is to seek, to persevere, to not accept the easy answers, nor look for the easy way out.  It reveals the 'core' of how you're built.  Your life was not a mistake, why would you accept excuses for not honoring the most high, by not living up to the greatness that is within your reach.  Pushing the envelope unlocks the unknown mystery that richly awaits you.  It affords the opportunities that you didn't know was destined directly to you, it's your propose.  Clearing the proper channels opens the pathway, no more clutter, just infinite clarity.  

Life, you must show up and do the work, the textures, the layers all show signs of depth.  Daydreaming is for the novice who opt not to cut, feel and press forth.  In the pursuit of 'whats next', well what if 'next' is not an option with your name on it?  Deja Vu though it's a nice melancholy moment, it speaks more of repeated mistakes and a do over is wasted time, blocking you from the other travels that await you.  Your plate will always be portioned exactly to fit your life.  The 24 hours in a day are yours to juggle, decide when to play and pay.

Its a time for Harvest, its about protecting your flock, to teach them the right way to go. It takes a collaborative effort to make it through.  Little by little things fall in place.  Whatever you aren't versed in, the next person might have the answer.  A flock is your family, its a comfort level with those you can depend on, and reach out to.  Remember positive thinking evokes more energy, more initiative and more happiness.  No one gets there alone.

To be free, not hampered opens your mind to endless possibilities.  Its your consciousness that unlocks all the negatives, and all the fears. You can be at one with yourself, if you're not afraid of where self discovery can take you.  Every road has a lesson, every experience has a testimony. A wealth of knowledge is yours to offer. Its in the way that you walk, its in the way that you talk, freedom comes in a simple moment of letting go. Stress is tense, it can be detrimental, its shutting down, it blocks the natural circulation of life. Dodging and running against, as oppose to with, will never get you to your destination, especially in a world that fights for completion. 

Maturity comes when you stop making excuses and start making changes.  A simple plan of action happens step by step and it begins by having a starting place of reference.  Everyone is a teacher, some we seek, some we subconsciously attract.  Most learning comes from simply observing others.  In doing so few view themselves as examples or role models, those are the ones, who live to gratify.  The humble and meek rewards seem to flourish, simply because they do not operate from the level of entitlement or expectation.  The person that derives from expectation or the one who thinks they are better than, soon realize a world full of misery.

Having disingenuous people around who blow smoke to seem relevant is a flawed focus.  You can walk this journey alone and share the wisdom of your travels, no malice, just loving and forgiving.
The road is paved with speed-bumps and potholes the only thing you will not find is paved gold, however what is golden, is getting to the other side, that gold is your epiphany .  Anything learned is a gain, so as it is written a mistake becomes obsolete.  Your code of ethics tells who you really are, when its pure, its not hard to remain authentic.   Never let them see you sweat, is a nice cliche, but through the journey called life, adversity is the device that gets you through.  Show them your moxie, its okay, some days you have to brag a little to the world that you're here, with the things that invigorates you, it shows revitalization and inspiration.  When you feel good that vibe transpires in everything that you do and to everyone that you encounter.

Recently I went through what I viewed to be one of the most taxing things in my life.  The Devil is a liar.  Ive always known that if GOD be for you  ...  I was steadfast, not always an easy thing to do.
Being an only child was one of my weapons, as you see walking alone I was fully accustomed to.
Not everyone will stand with you, I found more stood against me, family became a foe, friends were few, everyone had opinions,  the security in people was a lost luxury,  I came out flawed, but
renewed and empowered.   I no longer see the world the same, I see it as it is.  The gist  of this story is 'fertile ground' people can fail you and themselves daily, you must know 'your' truth, then you can have the willingness to wake up and prepare yourself for the battle, whatever it is and wherever it takes you, after all you have the best traveling companion, who is always there when you call.
