Command Performance

I love this performance of two legends Pearl Bailey and Andy Williams in their prime. Though this is over forty years, it's speaks to true entertainment. When entertainment was all about show business. Both artists are no longer with us, lucky for us we have their memory and legacy left for us to bask in.

  1. Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!! Where do you find your clips? You always manage to caught me off guard and surprise me. I wasn't familiar with either Pearl Bailey now Andy Williams. I'm so proud to see quality programming, and to say this clip is over 40 years old, says that regressing, because this clip is complete perfection. Thanks again for the post.

  4. I wasn't that familiar with Pearl Bailey, but I thank you for posting this clip. She really reminds me of Queen Latifah. Maybe she should do her life story. Thanks for the introduction.

  11. Pearl really knew how to work her "magic"... so genuine, so natural. Andy is having the time of his life. I once read where her co-stars in any performance, never knew what she was gonna hit 'em with. She was so spontaneous and impromptu, giving them a joyous nervousness that they just laughed their way through. Pearl could take a scene to heights they hadn't imagined! She didn't need rehearsal...she was rehearsal's MAMA! Now that's what being a DIVA truly is!

  17. I think Queen Latifah should play her. It's uncanny how much the two of them favor each other. I wonder if Queen Latifah ever got the chance to meet her.
