Unsung Heroes/TGIF

As we reflect back on 9/11. How has the world changed, or has it changed? Television has gotten us so conditioned that when I first saw the footage of the horrific events. I was baffled, having lost my mother a few months prior, I felt like that was my 9/11, and though I was saddened, it didn't have the same effect as my mother's passing obviously. I did have compassion for the families who lost loved ones and for the world in general. Events such as these help us to get past our differences, even though it's only a temporary fix. It makes me happy that collectively we can have compassion for the larger picture.

When events like this happens, it forever changes us, our viewpoints shift. Still to this day it's a mystery as to what really happened, and the reason why. No one knows, but many will continue to speculate. I always say, that even when unfortunate incidents happen, it's a mere test of what you're truly made of. How deep does your personal beliefs go? Those are the real questions. We have family, who count on us and look to us for guidance and directions. Sometimes the one that you look to may be lost themselves, who do they look to?

The larger plan is to collectively do better, and be better. Procrastination is a steady contender, as we continue to put off things that we so easily take for granted. The world continues to keep changing, and some get left behind, other's opt to bow out. The population continues to grow, as the economy gets weaker, while we live in the greatest place on earth. We don't have health care for everyone, fewer and fewer people are willing to lend a helping hand. Structure and what's being taught in the home is enormously lacking.

What happens to the person that is really trying, and really forging to be present to make a change and be the difference, when that person continues to get run down for trying to make that change, should they give up and conclude their mission as a failure? Tests seem to creep up more and more in day to day activities. I believe that solace is sought when the understanding is lacking or lost, even still it isn't always enough. To be angry in the face of dismay I think is a natural progression, and anger doesn't always have to be a bad thing, we've all witnessed injustice in the world, and sometimes that anger can stimulate something productive..

To fight for your place in a world that doesn't always reward the good intentions, and hard work. Most are not born with silver spoons in our mouths, and we have to gasp, pause and grab at understanding, and encouragement to continue to fight in a world that will largely work against you. The race and the endurance, doesn't necessarily come to the fast burner. So when you witness a day like 9/11 we have all experienced our version of it, one way or another in our lives, and yet we continue to find a reason to believe in the good, and hope for better days to come. Today let us remember the lost ones and the unsung heroes.

What are you doing with your life?

  2. I do believe in reflecting and appreciating the unsung heroes of 911,as well as the heroes in each of our own lives. But much of our society has a tendency to be thoughtful one minute, then forgetful the next.

I like to look at the good in people and be positive.I try to be realistic of expectations of people and their ability to maintain consistency with alot of their good nature. One thing I do believe is that 911 gives us a bookmark in which we can remind ourselves of the of the heroes in our lives.

    Thanks kev,

  5. Kevin, you really need to write a book, "Reflections of Life". You have a gift of insight that more than your internet following should hear. I'm serious!!! Have you thought about getting a grant to research some of your ideas about human reactions following life altering events. I have published, it's not that hard, and grant funds are there, to help. You so eloquent in your approach to life's questions, people are so hungry to find meaning to such calamadies.
